Needs Map UK is a community interest company (CIC) established in London, UK. It is a technological platform in which we match the needs and the people and the institutions that can support those needs. Needs Map UK has a robust map-based data matching system which renders solidarity culture through an online platform. In other words, Needs Map UK is a solidarity/support platform that tackles poverty related social problems through a system of basically non-monetary contributions.

The purpose of the Needs Map UK is to learn and verify the needs on the basis of individuals and communities, to collect and list them on a map-based approach, and to facilitate the needs meeting by institutions, organisations or private individuals. Also, Needs Map UK aims to mobilise local people to support their own communities, rather than to mobilise support from some wealthier regions to somewhere else. Therefore, the map enables the users to check the needs on neighbourhood-basis with anonymous addresses detailed to street names, not to door numbers. Needs Map UK brings transparency and visualises street level data in terms of need and support and makes it possible to act accordingly.

For local authorities, it is easy to see the needs in their own district and act accordingly. For companies, it is easier to implement social responsibility projects for any target group (women, children, disabled, animals, etc) they wish throughout the whole country by locating the needs provided on the platform. Needs Map UK makes a wider level of collaboration possible for all levels and actors through different geographies.

Currently, Needs Map UK CIC can sustain itself by collaborating with companies, international organisations and local institutions in creating social responsibility projects. By using the platform, companies can do social responsibility projects such as sending support to schools (books, pencils, stationery, children’s wear, shoes etc.).
